David P. Korteling has 25 years of legal experience in business law, tax and estate planning and probate, litigation and family law. Mr. Korteling practiced for 15 years with a mid-sized law firm where he was a partner after being a partner in a boutique litigation firm. In 2013, he formed the Law Offices of David P Korteling and shortly after also became Of Counsel to Axelson, Williamowsky, Bender & Fishman, P.C.

Mr. Korteling began is legal career as an associate with an estate planning and business law firm that served as in-house counsel for a regional accounting firm.

His diverse background in law, accounting, finance, and business enables Mr. Korteling to provide high quality integrated legal services across multiple practice areas.

Mr. Korteling received his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Georgia State University. Upon graduation from Georgia State University, he attended the American University School of Law where he received his JD in 1994, graduating cum laude. Mr. Korteling received his LL.M. (Tax) degree from the Georgetown University Law Center.

Mr. Korteling is admitted to practice in Maryland, Virginia, and the U.S. District Court, District of Columbia, U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Virginia and the District of Maryland, Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, United States Tax Court, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
